Jc. Scaiano et al., PHOTOCHEMICAL STUDIES OF ATOMIC SPECIES (F, BR, O) IN SOLUTION, Journal of photochemistry and photobiology. A, Chemistry, 102(1), 1996, pp. 7-11
The reactions of fluorine, bromine and oxygen atoms in solution have b
een examined using nanosecond laser flash photolysis techniques. In ea
ch system it was necessary to identify a suitable precursor (XeF2 for
fluorine, vicinal dibromides for bromine, and pyridine-N-oxide for oxy
gen) and a convenient probe species having a readily observable absorp
tion band in the UV-vis region. The kinetics of the debromination of b
eta-bromoalkyl radicals have been examined for silicon-substituted rad
icals.
