Extramammary Paget's disease (EMPD) is an epithelial disorder usually
observed in cutaneous apocrine gland-bearing regions. This condition m
ay be associated with either subjacent or distant malignancies or may
potentially be an invasive adenocarcinoma sui generis. Clinically it i
s usually recognized as a nonhealing eczematous lesion. The diagnosis
is confirmed histopathologically by the presence of Paget's cells. Imm
unologic studies have revealed, however, that EMPD is an entity distin
ct from mammary Paget's disease.
