FECAL EXCRETION RATES OF PCDDS AND PCDFS IN 2 BREAST-FED INFANTS

Concentrations of PCDDs and PCDFs in the feces from two breast-fed inf ants and in the corresponding mother's milk were measured. From these data and the daily amounts of feces and milk the fecal excretion rates for the different PCDD and PCDF congeners could be calculated. Althou gh PCDD and PCDF concentrations in feces were on a fat weight basis in the range of the corresponding concentrations in mothers' milk, the f ecal excretion rates for all congeners were below 10 %. Expressed as I -TEQ they were only 1 and 3 %, respectively.
