Different industrial processes in Sweden have been investigated regard
ing their emissions of PCDD/F to the environment. Levels, congener pat
terns and estimated annual emissions are compared for the samples anal
yzed. The results support the assumption that the metallurgical indust
ry is one of the main sources for PCDD/F to the Swedish environment. T
he results also indicate that textile manufacturing may be an importan
t source of dioxins. Combined emissions from small processes may also
have an impact on the environment. Among the samples investigated were
wastes from industrial processes, some of which showed very high PCDD
/F levels, emphasizing that wastes are also important PCDD/F sources.
