Abstract
Roughness of the fracture surfaces of silica glass samples subjected t o thermal treatments under an oxygen-enriched atmosphere was measured by using a fractal-like approach. The results show a clear dependance of the type of treatment upon the resulting fractal dimension. An atom istic model for this phenomenon is proposed.
