For an exactly solvable model the electronic structure and spatial pro
bability distribution of a two-dimensional parabolic quantum dot with
two interacting electrons in a magnetic field is calculated. As a cons
equence of the interplay between electron-electron interaction and mag
netic field it is shown that electron spatial correlation presents a d
iscontinuous variation as a function of the cyclotron to harmonic freq
uency ratio. Physical consequences of this fact are analysed.
