D. Caillard et al., MECHANISMS OF YIELD STRESS ANOMALIES IN BERYLLIUM AND NI3AL, Materials science & engineering. A, Structural materials: properties, microstructure and processing, 164(1-2), 1993, pp. 69-81
The origin of the anomalous increase in yield stress with increasing t
emperature observed in many materials is discussed with reference to t
he well-documented cases of prismatic glide in beryllium and octahedra
l glide in Ni3Al and related alloys. The main experimental results are
reviewed, and compared with the most current models. The outlines of
a new model are presented for Ni3Al, based on the same general princip
les as that derived in beryllium.
