F. Carreno et al., HIGH-TEMPERATURE DEFORMATION-BEHAVIOR OF AN AL-FE-V-SI ALLOY, Materials science & engineering. A, Structural materials: properties, microstructure and processing, 164(1-2), 1993, pp. 216-219
The deformation behavior between 250 and 550-degrees-C of a fine-grain
ed (0.5 mum) Al-Fe-V-Si alloy strengthened by fine particles (50 run)
and processed by a rapid solidification route was investigated. The ma
terial is characterized by high stress exponents and activation energi
es for creep, which are strongly dependent on temperature. Two differe
nt approaches are considered to explain the deformation behavior of th
e alloy: a constant-structure, slip creep mechanism with a threshold s
tress; and a slip creep mechanism involving dislocation detachment fro
m dispersoid particles, as suggested by transmission electron microsco
py.
