Preparation of the title compound (1) is reported together with its de
tailed mass spectrometric investigations, which revealed the high stab
ility of the molecular ion under electron impact and allow its fragmen
tation pathways to be rationalized. In dichloroethane solution the one
-electron oxidation of 1 occurs at the highest potential value so far
known for ferrocene molecules (E-degrees' = + 1.19 V, vs S.C.E.).
