RUTHENIUM(II) AND RHODIUM(I) TRIPHENYLPHOSPHINE COMPLEXES CONTAINING SEMICARBAZONES AND THIOSEMICARBAZONES

Ruthenium(II) and rhodium(I) complexes of the type [Ru(CO)Cl(PPh3)2(NX )], (RuH(CO)(PPh3)2(NX)], [Rh(PPh3)3(NX)] and [Rh(CO)(PPh3)2(NX)] have been synthesised by the reactions of [RuHCl(CO)(PPh3)3], (RuH2(CO)(PP h3)3] [RhH(PPh3)4] and (RhH(CO)(PPh3)3] with Schiff bases having the d onor groups (N,X) viz., cinnamaldehyde semicarbazone (X = 0), benzalde hyde semicarbazone (X = 0), cinnamaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (X = S) a nd benzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (x = S). These complexes have been c haracterised on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, H-1-NMR and elect ronic spectral studies.
