The current density and local magnetic field are calculated analytical
ly for a strip of a type-II superconductor in perpendicular magnetic f
ield H(a) for constant critical current density. The penetrating flux
front has vertical slope and the initial penetration depth, magnetizat
ion change and hysteretic losses are approximately H-a(2), approximate
ly H-a(3) and approximately H-a(4), respectively. The analytical resul
ts differ from the widely used Bean Model and explain numerous experim
ents in a natural way without the assumption of a surface barrier.
