The present study is on the effect of gamma radiation on the electroco
nductivity of two polymer - matrix composite materials and their appli
cation. When the absorption dose came to the peak value dose 6 X 10(4)
Gy, the electroconductivity of the graphite - PMMA composite materials
reached a peak value of 14 s . m-1. The electroconductivity of the co
pper - PMMA composite material decreased with the increase of the abso
rption dose in the range of 4.0 X 10(4) to 7.5 X 10(4)Gy and then kept
stable at about 2.5 X 10(-5) s . m-1. The two composite materials wer
e analysed by infrared spectrum, microphotography and XPS. The two com
posite materials are of amosphous structure. The two composite materia
ls show excellent properties of polarogram. They can be used in polaro
graphic analysis as solid electrode. Graphite - polymethyl methacrylat
e can be powdered and mixed with plastics, rubber or coating as antist
atic electric material.
