Abstract
The operation of a gamma irradiation facility with maximum loading of
18.5x10(15)Bq of Cobalt60 was undertakan by the shanghai Irradintion C
enter since 1986 (ref.1). In the six years of management of gamma faci
lity for multi-purpose uses. the source was almost in continuous opera
tion all years around. The economic gain and the social gain from oper
ation of SIC radiation facility were significient. In this paper, deve
lopment of the irradiation facility and it operation and relevant R an
d D are introduced.
