Abstract
Pulse radiolysis experiments were carried out with aqueous solutions o f thionine dye methylene blue (MB) and toluidine blue in tbe presence of polyvinyl alcohol. The transient spectra obtained show maxima at 40 0 and 880nm and are assigned to the respective semiquinone radical ani ons. The semiquinone radical decayed by a second order process. Furthe rmore, MB in PVA films were bleached by gamma-radiolysis and the chang e in absorption was found to be linear with the dose.
