A study on scavenging and dismutation effects on superoxide anion radi
cal (.02-) by using two Chinese antiaging medicine-Salvia Miltiorrhiza
injection (S.M.) and Sulekang capsule (S.C.) were performed by pulse
radiolysis. The absorption spectra of .02- have been redetermined in r
adiolysis of aqueous solution of sodium format. The absorption maximum
is at about 250nm. The results suggested that S.M. and S.C. can dismu
tate and scavenge.02-. The experimental scavenging rate of S.M. (150 m
ug/ml) and S.C. (250 mug/ml) were 89.6 % and 69.5 % respectively.
