Jf. Guelfi et al., HEMATOLOGICAL MODIFICATIONS OBSERVED DURI NG VIRAL HEMORRHAGIC-DISEASE (VHD) IN THE RABBIT, Recueil de medecine veterinaire, 169(2), 1993, pp. 93-99
The results concerning haematological modifications in thirty rabbits
innoculated with the V.H.D. virus are presented. The earliest abnormal
ities (within hte first 24hr) are lymphopenia and/or the appearance of
soluble complexes. Lymphopenia is frequent after the 30th hour. Some
animals also exhibited neutropenia (probably of peripheral origin) and
regenerative anaemia (by haemorrhage). Some rabbits show straight awa
y a disseminated intravascular coagulation (D.C.I.) and a hepatocellul
ar insufficiency. Together these are rapidly fatal. Others show first
of all an isolated D.C.I. and survive longer. Hyperfibrinolysis appear
ed to be more easily shown by the D-Di and the FS tests than the Spli-
test.
