PROLIFERATION OF MACROSCOPICALLY UNALTERE D COLORECTAL EPITHELIUM ANDCANCER RISK

The problem concerning intensification of cell proliferation as a regu lar peculiarity of the tumour growth is still under discussion. Two ma jor aspects of the phenomenon of epithelium hyperproliferation (when t here are no lesions of epithelium at the light microscopy level) in th e normal large intestine mucosa are considered from the standpoint of colorectal cancer risk. Modern methods for the investigation of this p henomenon are under discussion. Essential importance of the factors as sociated with the organism peculiarities (e.g. age, diets, etc.) as mo difiers of the hyperproliferation phenomenon is emphasized.
