Iv. Abramenko et al., STUDY OF OLIGOSACCHARIDE-BINDING RECEPTOR S OF CANCER-CELLS UNDER METASTATIC LESION OF SEROUS MEMBRANES OF THE PLEURAL CAVITY IN ONCOLOGIC PATIENTS, Eksperimental'naa onkologia, 15(3), 1993, pp. 40-43
Oligosaccharide-binding molecules of metastatic cancer cells in pleura
l effusions from 26 patients have been studied using biotinylated poly
acrylamide probes containing different mono- and oligosaccharides. The
receptors to Thomsen-Friedenreich antigen (88,46 %), Forssman antigen
(72 %), mannoso-6-phosphate (100 %), fucose (53.84 %) were revealed o
n the surface and in the cytoplasm of cancer cells. The analysis of di
stribution of carbohydrate-binding molecules on malignant cells has be
en carried out as dependent on their phenotype and histogenesis. It gi
ves ground to suppose involvement of the detected structures in the me
tastatic process.
