Ya. Grinevich et al., THE ROLE OF PITUITARY-ADRENAL SYSTEM IN P ATHOGENESIS OF THE THYMIC ENDOCRINE FUNCTION DISORDERS IN PATIENTS WITH THYMOMAS, Eksperimental'naa onkologia, 15(3), 1993, pp. 61-63
The endocrine function of the thymic gland and pituitary-adrenal syste
m has been studied in 53 patients with malignant thymomas and 85 healt
hy individuals aged 20 to 50 years. The increased blood serum levels o
f ACTH and cortisole in thymomas results in a decreased hormonal activ
ity of the thymus, which can be accompanied by disruption in the perip
heral chain of the immune system and disorders in formation of immune
responses. It has been shown experimentally that ionol, epithalamine a
nd tactivine inhibit the development of lymphomas in AKR mice.
