Abstract
In Germany, heat-generating radioactive waste is intended to be dispos ed of in the Gorleben repository. With regard to planning and construc tion of this facility as well as its operational and postoperational p hase, safety issues must be taken into account. Emphasis is on the pre liminary planning for the Gorleben project and on radiation protection and safety criteria regarding the postclosure phase of this planned r epository.
