Jordan paper and cardboard factories at Zerka produce 28 tons/day card
board and consume 1200 m3 water per day. The wastewater analysis of th
e mill effluent shows that it contains 3000 mg/l suspended solids, 140
0 mg/l COD (chemical oxygen demand) and 500 mg/l BOD (biochemical oxyg
en demand). In this work an internal treatment cycle is suggested by r
ecirculation of the white-water system. This can be accomplished by in
stalling a floatation saveall (fiber recovery) unit This arrangement w
ill save about 90% of fresh water used, will reduce fiber loss by 80-9
0%, and will increase the production rate by 13%.
