Measurements of thermopower anisotropy in the highly conducting ac-pla
ne in a quasi-two-dimensional conductor ET2TlHg(SCN)4 have been perfor
med. A peak in S(T) dependence along a direction at 160 K was shown to
be a manifestation of semimetal to metal phase transition. The semime
tal state was shown to be due to a gap appearance on the electronic sh
eet of the Fermi surface. Phase transition to zero thermopower ground
state is observed at 10 K and is related probably with sliding spin de
nsity wave formation.
