Abstract
Balloon angioplasty in calcified coronary lesions may have a decreased success rate and an increased incidence of complications. Previous ca ses have been reported on the phenomena of catheter or wire entrapment , but this report highlights a new problem in association with a calci fied stenoses. This case lead to the unusual problem of the inflated b alloon being entrapped within the lesion while the distal portion of t he balloon remained inflated even after balloon deflation.
