In a randomized controlled trial three different treatment protocols w
ith the new broad-spectrum peroral antifungal saperconazole were evalu
ated. The treatment regimens were as follows: 100 mg per day for 7 day
s, 200 mg per day for 7 days, 100 mg per day for 14 days. Of four asse
ssable cases of dermatophytosis of glabrous skin treated with one of t
hese three therapeutic regimens, one was cured. In this patient, howev
er, the dermatophytosis relapsed after the end of the observation peri
od, but due to a different microorganism. While partial improvement wa
s seen in the other cases definite cure was not obtained. No adverse e
vents were recorded.
