Abstract
Metastable Fe-Cu alloys have been produced using a high energy ball mi ll. We have studied the magnetic properties of both mechanically alloy ed Fe-Cu and the nanocomposite phase produced at intermediate ball mil ling times. The mechanically alloyed solid solutions have magnetic pro perties similar to those of Fe-Cu films prepared by vapor-quenching. U pon annealing at high temperatures, the metastable Fe-Cu alloys recrys tallize and phase separate into Fe and Cu.
