P. Auric et al., DEPTH-SELECTIVE CONVERSION ELECTRON MOSSBAUER-SPECTROSCOPY OF AG FE-57/AG(111) SANDWICHES GROWN BY SPUTTERING/, Journal of magnetism and magnetic materials, 124(1-2), 1993, pp. 75-84
DS-CEMS experiments were carried out on sputtered Ag/Fe/Ag sandwiches
using enriched Fe-57 iron and selecting the electrons that emerge from
the sample with 6.80 and 7.27 keV. Three iron components were identif
ied: alpha-Fe, iron oxide and amorphous iron. The signals of these thr
ee phases were fitted by a model describing the layer profiles: small
iron oxide particles located at the top of the iron layers were uncove
red with silver in S2 and covered with a thin silver layer in S3 and S
4; an amorphous phase seems to be stabilized within the interfacial zo
nes and could be involved in the strong interface-induced anisotropy K
