A new finless snake-eel, Cirricaecula macdowelli, is described on the
basis of a specimen trawled at 30-50 m from the Formosa Straits. It is
distinguished from its only congener, C. johnsoni from the Marshall I
slands, by having more vertebrae and fewer labial cirri.
