Abstract
It is shown that the choice of the system of characteristics of acoust ic-emission transducers must be related to the type of object being te sted. When investigating pulsed acoustic emission one must use the imp ulse characteristics of the transducers, and when analyzing continuous acoustic emission one must use the frequency characteristics. Simple theoretical procedures which enable one to relate the impulse and freq uency characteristics are considered
