Abstract
Based on tension analyses (finite elements analysis) of LBE converters at Sollac Dunkerque, a new way of lining the cones of O2-converters w as found. By inclined lining of standard bricks, a wall with minimized tension and practically without steps was reached. This lining is wea ring continuously without spalling. This type of refractory design lea ds to wear improvements of 25-35 % in the converter bottom cone of the 3 steel-works of the Sollac group.
