Mj. Koury et Mc. Bondurant, PREVENTION OF PROGRAMMED DEATH IN HEMATOPOIETIC PROGENITOR CELLS BY HEMATOPOIETIC GROWTH-FACTORS, News in physiological sciences, 8, 1993, pp. 170-174
Hematopoietic growth factors have been thought to control blood cell p
roduction by stimulating proliferation and differentiation of hematopo
ietic progenitor cells. However, recent studies show that these growth
factors prevent programmed death in progenitor cells. A model of hema
topoiesis based on prevention of this death by hematopoietic growth fa
ctors is presented.
