Abstract
Polarization dependence of grating-assisted waveguide Bragg reflectors is studied theoretically by use of a vectorial coupled-mode theory ba sed on the ideal mode expansion. A criterion for choosing ideal wavegu ides is proposed. Experimental results obtained from an ion-exchanged waveguide with an etched grating agree well with the theory.
