From measurements of the harmonic frequencies of a microstrip ring-res
onator circuit over the microwave frequency range 0.5 to 10.4 GHz, the
dielectric constant of liquid nitrogen has been determined to have an
average value of 1.538 +/- 0.025. In addition, the dielectric constan
t of 3 mol% yttria-stabilized zirconia at a frequency of 1 GHz has bee
n determined as 32.99 at room temperature and as 31.73 at 77 K, with a
n estimated measurement accuracy of < 2%.
