The experimental determination and analysis of densities (rho), electr
olytic conductivities (kappa), and viscosities (eta) has been performe
d in one of our laboratories (University of Miskolc) for the systems H
a-LaCl3-H2O and HCl-M(II)Cl2-H2O where M denotes Mn, Cu, or Cd. These
quantities are required, for example, for the design and control of in
dustrial processes involving these ternary systems. Experimental value
s were reported elsewhere. These large sets of experimental data for H
a-LaCl3-H2O are now represented by empirical functions of temperature
(T), the molality of HCl (m1), and the molality of LaCl3 (M2). The ran
ge of these experimental variables was m1 = 0.2 to 10.0 mol kg-1, m2 =
0.2 to 4 mol kg-1, and T = 283.15 to 328.15 K. Plots are also given f
or the deviations of volume, kappa, and eta from simple ideal mixing r
ules at constant T for Ha-LaCl3-H2O and Ha-MCl2-H2O.
