Jl. Kincheloe et Sr. Steinberg, A TENTATIVE DESCRIPTION OF POST-FORMAL THINKING - THE CRITICAL CONFRONTATION WITH COGNITIVE THEORY, Harvard educational review, 63(3), 1993, pp. 296-320
In this article, Joe Kincheloe and Shirley Steinberg critique and chal
lenge the reductionist conceptions of intelligence that underlie cogni
tive developmental theory. The authors formulate a post-Piagetian cogn
itive theory that is informed by and extends critical, feminist, and p
ostmodern thought. By delineating the features of what they refer to a
s a ''post-formal'' way of thinking, the authors provide practitioners
with a framework for reconsidering both curricular and pedagogical pr
actices.
