FOUNDATION AND PROGRESS OF DEVELOPMENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL-SOCIETY-FOR-ANIMAL-HYGIENE AND ITS ROLE IN THE PREVENTION

A summary has been given on the foundation of International Society fo r Animal Hygiene initiated by Prof. FERENC KOVACS in November 20, 1970 . He was the first president of the Society. The first congress held i n Budapest, in 1973 was followed by another 8 congresses and 8 so-call ed ''in-between'' symposia up to 1994. All the events were followed by an increasing international interest. The author has expressed his un diminished professional optimism when he has stated that animal hygien e remains one of the operative factors for fulfilling the demands in t he production of good quality products and foods of animal origin even in the future. As the president on duty of the International Society, the author has expressed the gratitude and best wishes of animal hygi enist of the member countries to Prof. FERENC KOVACS who celebrates hi s 75th birthday.
