Kh. Kabir et al., MONITORING PROPARGITE RESISTANCE IN EUROPEAN RED MITE, PANONYCHUS-ULMI KOCH (ACARI, TETRANYCHIDAE), New Zealand journal of crop and horticultural science, 21(2), 1993, pp. 133-138
The responses of European red mite (ERM) strains to propargite were de
termined by using discriminating concentration (DC) and multiple conce
ntration test techniques. In determining levels of resistance both tec
hniques provided similar conclusions. Propargite resistance was found
in two of the 11 field-collected ERM strains tested. The major advanta
ges of using a DC were less time and fewer individuals required than f
or a multiple concentration test. Procedures for conducting DC resista
nce tests are recommended.
