The specific conductance of concentrated solutions was measured for th
e following systems: LiAsF6 solutions in an equimolar acetonitrile and
propylene carbonate mixture at 25-degrees-C; LiAsF6 solutions in an e
quimolar gamma-butyrolactone and tetrahydrofuran mixture at 25 and 15-
degrees-C; LiClO4 solutions in an equimolar gamma-butyrolactone and te
trahydrofuran mixture at 25-degrees-C; LiAsF6 and LiClO4 solutions in
an equimolar gamma-butyrolactone and 2-methyl-tetrahydrofuran mixture
at 15 and 25-degrees-C; LiClO4 solutions in an approximately equimolar
gamma-butyrolactone and 1,3-dioxolane mixture at 25-degrees-C. The co
nductance data for these systems were analysed in terms of the semi-em
pirical Casteel-Amis equation. The equation parameters c(max), kappa(m
ax), a and b were evaluated. The properties of the solvents (electrica
l permittivity and viscosity) were measured. The solvent molecule mini
mized energies were calculated using the ALCHEMY program.
