In 6 M HCl, at temperatures above about 80-degrees-C, the barrierless
discharge of undissociated acid molecules has been observed. The effec
tive transfer coefficient a is equal to approximately 1.2 at 80-degree
s-C and decreases to 0.9 at 180-degrees-C. This trend is explained by
the substantial influence of the phi1-potential on the barrierless dis
charge of a neutral particle.
