G. Burgstaller et al., FAT QUALITY IN HEAVY PIGS DEPENDENT ON TH E PROVISION PERIOD OF EQUALQUANTITIES OF RAPESEED OIL, Zuchtungskunde, 65(4), 1993, pp. 306-317
The presented results should give a contribution to the question, if f
eeding of equal volumes of rape-seed oil during different periods of f
attening could influence the polyen acid content in the fat compartime
nts of the carcass. In comparison to the control group with an additiv
e of 1 % rape-seed oil for dust absorption in non-pelleted mixed prove
nder 5,5 kg rape-seed oil were added to the isocaloric, isonitrogen, a
nd feed additive equivalent fattening feed during the initial, middle
and final fattening period. In the dorsale part of backfat no influenc
e of temporal different rape-seed oil supplementation on the linoleic
acid content in fatty acid sample was detected. In the ventrale part o
f backfat and in the abdominal fat the feeding of rape-seed oil in the
final period was lifting the concentration of linoleic acid significa
ntly. There could be found a temporal different dependence of the lino
lenic acid content. All experimental groups with additional rape-seed
oil had a significant higher polyen acid content in the fatty acid sam
ple of all examined fat compartiments than the control group. In case
of a high but optimal fat insertion the supplementation of rape-seed o
il produces an acceptable processing and sensorical content of polyen
acid in the backfat.
