Background Xanthomatous tumors are common tumors of the eyelid. We rep
ort the rare case of a patient with a papular xanthoma of the eyelid.
Case report The 87-year old patient suffered from multiple xanthomatou
s lesion in the face and the trunk. The rumors were painless and elast
ic. A biopsy of the largest tumor was performed. Results The histologi
c examination revealed multiple histicytes and giant cells of the Tout
on type. Immunhistochemistry showed a positive stain for CD68. Conclus
ions The clinical, histologic and immunhistochemical findings are typi
cal for a papular xanthoma and help to differentiate from other xantho
matous lesions such as xanthelasma, xanthoma disseminatum, nekrobiotic
xanthogranuloma and fibrous histiocytoma.
