Gl. Bowen et al., FAMILY ADAPTATION OF SINGLE PARENTS IN THE UNITED-STATES-ARMY - AN EMPIRICAL-ANALYSIS OF WORK STRESSORS AND ADAPTIVE RESOURCES, Family relations, 42(3), 1993, pp. 293-304
This article examines the relative contribution of work stressors, fam
ily and community resources, and Army support resources to the family
adaptation of a sample of 238 single parents serving on active duty in
the US. Army. The results indicate that the adaptation of single-pare
nt families to Army demands is influenced more strongly by the availab
ility of family, community, and Army resources than by the presence of
work stressors. Recommendations are offered for policy and practice.
