Conditions are established theoretically for the onset of bistable, se
lf-excited, and stochastic operating regimes of an ultrasonic resonato
r filled with a viscous liquid. The results of calculations of the out
put parameters are confirmed in an experiment with a 2-MHz beam in gly
cerin at resonator lengths of 0.6-4 cm. Acoustic bistability sets in a
t an input intensity I(i) congruent-to 0.2-1 W/cm2, self-excitation se
ts in at I(i) congruent-to 1-1.5 W/Cm2, and the wave transmitted throu
gh the resonator begins to fluctuate irregularly at I(i) congruent-to
1.5-2 W/CM2.
