Progressive coronary artery disease and recurrent symptoms developed i
n a 57-year-old man. Nine years earlier he had undergone coronary arte
ry bypass grafting and was supported with a centrifugal left ventricul
ar assist device. He underwent redo coronary artery bypass and again r
equired left ventricular assistance. The patient recovered and was dis
charged on the 15th postoperative day. He is doing well 1 year after o
peration and has good left ventricular function.
