Abstract
The taxonomic position of the proferrorosamine A producing strain Pseu domonas sp. GH (LMG 11358) was studied. Phenotypic characterization (A PI 20E and API 50CHE), gaschromatographic analysis of methylated cellu lar fatty acids and sodiumdodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gelelectropho resis of whole-cell proteins all support reclassification of LMG strai n 11358 as Erwinia rhapontici. All previously reported data on the iro n-chelating capacity of the strain are thus linked with the genus Erwi nia and not with the genera Pseudomonas or Bacillus.
