Js. Dionisio et al., THE INFLUENCE OF TARGET BACKING ON IN-BEAM ELECTRON-SPECTRA, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section A, Accelerators, spectrometers, detectors and associated equipment, 334(1), 1993, pp. 53-68
Several different aspects of the influence of the target backing on in
-beam electron spectra following compound nuclear reactions induced by
accelerated ions at tandem energies irradiating backed targets are di
scussed in detail. This discussion is illustrated by a few typical exa
mples, such as C-12(5+) and P-31(10+) beams at 4 MeV/u bombarding Sn(Be), Sn(+Au), Pb(+C) backed targets. Moreover, the relative influence
of electron backscattering, electron Doppler shift and Doppler broaden
ing as well as delta-electron emission on the low energy electron spec
tra (E(e) less-than-or-equal-to 100 keV) obtained under such condition
s are investigated in the frame of the available experimental data.
