Abstract
A very simple system was built to measure the thickness of carbon stri pper foils. The optical transmittance of a foil is uniquely related to its thickness. Absolute thicknesses were obtained by yield measuremen ts in a Rutherford scattering experiment, using a sub-barrier O-16 ion beam. Comparison of thickness obtained by differing methods is perfor med.
