Abstract
Optical second-harmonic generation efficiency in Si/SixGe1-x superlatt ices has been compared with the corresponding values for Si(111) and S i(100). The experimentally observed increase in efficiency for structu res on Si(111) can be explained by mechanical strains in superlattices and by the presence of non-centrosymmetric domains.
