Abstract
The synthesis and biological evaluation of novel 1-carba-1-dethiacepha losporins exhibiting activity against anaerobic pathogens are describe d. The nitrothiazole substituent was determined to be crucial to maint aining this activity. The pharmacokinetic parameters and initial toxic ological profile of the lead compound are discussed.
