The effect of the neglected off-diagonal coupled terms in the centrifu
gal sudden (CS) approximate Hamiltonian of an atom-molecule scattering
system on the scattering results is considered. Corrections to the ce
ntrifugal sudden wave packet (CSWP) approximation developed by Kouri e
t al. are completed by introducing the corrected operator W into the c
oupled channel Schrodinger equation and expanding the exact scattering
wave function in che Lippmann-Schwinger (L-S) equation in terms of th
e CSWP wave function. The corrected CSWP approximation not only has hi
gher accuracy, but also can calculate atom-molecule low energy scatter
ing and atom-heteronuclear diatomic molecule scattering.
