Abstract
Cross-connect capability enables flexible handling of the transmitted channels through FITL (Fiber-in-the-Loop) systems. NTT has developed L XM (subscriber line cross-connect module) for terminating urban FTTO ( Fiber- To-The-Office), which is widely deployed in Japan. The architec ture of the LXM is highly reliable, adopting fully duplicated hardware and fault-tolerant software. The first LXM was installed in the Chiyo da pilot project and put into commercial use in October 1992.
